Reasonably priced Eddy current quality control equipment
The eddyliner® P is an eddy current instrument specifically designed for versatility in production line testing for material mix, heat treatment (hardness, case, depth, temper, etc.), sinter density and structure differences.
The eddyliner® P’s principle of operation is based on a multi-frequency test to provide a far greater degree of reliability than single frequency eddy current instruments. Operation is supported by a full on-board computer to simplify calibration and sort procedures.
Use of leading edge electronic techniques allows extremely short testing times, even with multi-frequency scanning. Opto-isolated interfacing integrates the eddyliner® P into automatic inspection and sort lines and equipment.
The compact instrument is designed for simplicity of operation. A “help” key (“Context Sensitive Help”) is available to provide assistance for each operating function. Application versatility is an in-built feature with a wide range of accessories available to adapt the eddyliner® P to differing job functions.
MULTI-FREQUENCY METHOD
During calibration, known reference parts are tested over a broad frequency band (1:100 - 1:1000). Typical impedance curves develop which are influenced by various metallurgical characteristics (alloy, structure, etc.) Subsequent sorting decisions on unknown parts dictate that they must meet all and every criteria in order to be accepted. Deviations are automatically recognized and sorted. Test reliability is significantly higher compared to mono-frequency testing.
PRODUCTION PROGRAM
Permits calibration of the instrument with “good” production parts only, at up to 8 different test frequencies. Operating procedures from “Calibration” to “Sorting” are extremely simple, with rapid segregation of “O.K.” and “NOT O.K.” material at up to 8 different frequencies.
OPERATION
All functions are displayed on the LCD. Calibration and test procedures are simplified by a built-in computer. Sequence guidance provided by softkeys and help function. “Context Sensitive Help” provides detailed information on softkey functions and program steps.
INTERNAL DATA STORAGE
Up to 16 possible frequency band combinations may be selected for calibration purposes. and 50 complete set-ups may be stored for future access.
EXTERNAL DATA STORAGE
Permits storage of set-up parameters on external “Memory Plug” (EEPROM) for transfer to other eddyliner® P units, simply by plugging in the Memory Plug at the front panel.
DOCUMENTATION
The eddyliner® P is equipped with a Centronics interface for communication with external printers to provide hardcopy printouts of the test results.
RS232 / V24 INTERFACE
An RS232 / V24 interface permits communication with separate main-frame computers to perform statistical analysis (SPC) of accumulated data.
SORTING
The sorting decision is “O.K.” or “NOT O.K.”. Test results are displayed by red or green sort indicator lamps and audible signal as well as graphically and numerically. After each test, measured values are statistically evaluated in numerical and percentage form.
OPTO INTERFACE
Permits input of external control signals and transfer of sorting decisions to peripheral accessories. For example, starting of measurement by photoelectric cell, transfer of sorting decision to gate mechanism, visual and audible alarm signals.
TRANSDUCERS
Suitable coils and probes are available for most applications. Standard transducers cover a wide range of applications. Special coils and probes can be developed for specific frequency ranges and part dimensions.
CASING OPTIONS
The following optional accessories are available for the eddyliner® P: Carrying handle with edge protection for bench case; Lockable Plexiglas front panel for bench case; 6 HU front panel for integration into 19” rack; 6 HU steel rack, protection IP54 (W x H x D: 600 x 330 x 450 mm). |
